My 25 Hour Week

Posted on January 28, 2010. Filed under: Daily Update | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

It feels a little surreal, but 25 hours after my first school week of the semester began, it ended. It hasn’t even hit me really that today is my “Friday” and tomorrow’s the weekend. I could get use to this.

Because I had a little extra time before my 2nd class of the day, I decided to make lunch in the kitchen again! This time, I cooked a “burger”.

Lightlife Gimme Lean Beef Soy Meat Burger

Yeah, I wish šŸ˜› What this actually was was 4ozĀ Lightlife‘s Ā Gimme Lean Beef shaped into a patty with some black pepper and cooked in a pan with EVOO.

Lightlife Burger With Ketchup, Green Beans, Smashed Banumpkin With Cinnamon And Sea Salt

But holy yum was that a good burger! I’ve had this beef before heated up in the microwave and it didn’t do it for me, so I wasn’t looking forward to this in all honesty. But yum! Cooked in a pan with fat it tasted like a real burger(albeit an overcooked burger since I like my meat practically mooing). I think I made up a side at this meal; I had an intense banana craving and wanted to get a little funky, so I mashed 1/4 cup pumpkin with 1 small-medium banana and seasoned with sea salt and cinnamon. This was sooooo good–try it! It’s similar to a sweet potato, but the sugars in the banana make the cinnamon POP!

I loooved my next two classes. The first had a hilarious professor who’s very much in the old style of teaching. My only problem with it was the class was PACKED. I have a feeling it’s a class a lot of kids are taking for fun or to slack off in, but I need it for a Classics concentration so I ain’t going anywhere. My next class was OK, but a little duller in comparison and a lot smaller. At least I know 2 of them from last semesters’ classes. Midway through, I could feel hanger coming on.

Organic Raw Vegan Chocolate

I broke this out midway through. I’m becoming so obsessed! Now, instead of making one when I feel like it, I always have one made already for me chilling in the fridge. When class got over, one of the people I knew asked me where I got this and said it smelled excellent; when I told her I made it, she called that “brilliant”, haha. No arguments there!

I walkedĀ ran to my dorm to watch Oprah’s interview with Jay Leno. I have to say–I’m liking him less and less through this whole process. I know it’s not his fault so much as NBC but… And I think Oprah was a lot easier on him than she could have been; where were the hard hitting questions, Oprah? While I was watching this I did two things: I made another organic raw vegan chocolate bar for my next craving and made a snack for then.

Creamy Greek Yogurt With Raspberry Jam

Greek yogurt is the perfect snack; it’s a complete protein so you really feel like you’re getting something out of it, too. For my taste and my wallet, lately I’ve been mixing 3 parts Trader Joe’s 0% with 1 part Trader Joe’s full fat, and sweetening with vanilla NuNaturals stevia. I’m running out of that last ingredient and can’t help but question to stick with it or try Sweetleaf or Whole Foods brand. Any recommendation? Dinner tonight hit just about every spot:

Chickpeas With Pasture Butter And Sea Salt

Broccoli With Pizza Cheeze Sauce

I’ve had MAJOR chickpea cravings all week, but didn’t want to open up a can with so much other food to eat. Tonight was the night, and with pasture butter it tasted very much like soft popcorn–yum! For my broccoli, I made Meagan’s cheeze sauce, but added ketchup to it–another winner. The only slightly disgusting thing was thinking at the end that sliding the pool of melted butter/leftover sauce/sea salt into my mouth would be a good call; that was a bit too much sodium, even for me. Coffee will dilute that, right? I think so.

Here’s another contest to win coconut oil of your very own.

And here’s an absolutely awesome article on nut butters with all my favorite brands interviewed–you must read this!

The Big Fat Post

Posted on January 27, 2010. Filed under: Daily Update, Product Review, Race Update | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

*Before I go into too much, I want to stress that everything hear is based on my own opinion. I’m not a certified nutrition anything, and these are personal thoughts reached through researched. I also recognize that I change my mind like crazy, so let the record show it is 1/27/20092010*

You’re all invited to my big fat Italian-Polish-French-Welsh-Canadian wedding after you read my big fat post. Really, I should call this my big post about fat, because that’s the topic on today’s agenda. I don’t think anyone would deny that fat’s an important part of your daily intake. And I really don’t think anyone would deny that it’s usually pretty delicious(Helloooo, peanut butter?). At the same time, there are several different types of fats stemming from countless sources. After taking advice and literature from 3 intelligent bloggers, I’ve decided to incorporate saturated fat from 2 new sources into my diet.

Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil

Common literature would tell you that saturated fats are awful and should be limited. That same literature, however, once toted trans-fatty margarine over all-natural butter. Things an opinions change.Ā These 2 pieces of literature(#1 and #2) combined with other effects and observation led me to this decision. The fats themselves, as you’ll read, are quite nutritious in themselves. Unlike commercial butter, grass-fed butter hosts a range of nutrients and a higher omega-3 content; this was also the butter that our great-great grandparents were living and thriving off of–not margarine. You can read all about Pasture Butter here. Coconut oil hosts a bound of benefits of saturated fats without a speck of cholesterol. It also hosts a wide and unique array of beneficial components, including lauric acid, the same food infants thrive off of from milk.

The other half of this shift will be limiting the amounts of canola, safflower, soy, and other refined liquid oils. The reasoning for this is two-fold: Firstly, they aren’t nearly as “natural” as some of their counterparts like Rachael Ray’s favorite, EVOO. Secondly, introducing new fats into my diet means I should probably take some of the old ones out, and these ones serve little purpose on their own. Of course I’ll still be getting a strong flow of fats from nuts and, on occasion, animal sources. But I did want to put this out there, so that there’s no surprise that I might be featuring food like this a lot:

Homemade Raw Vegan Chocolate Bar

And why wouldn’t I when it’s this yummy? That would be my 3rd ever homemade raw vegan chocolate, made with 13g gold label virgin coconut oil, 19g agave nectar, and 12g cocoa powder. I really liked this blend. And, yes, when it comes to these raw chocolate bars it’s grams–not even teaspoons–that change the flavor completely! I’m loving playing around with the flavor with my minute changes and I think this one came out best of all so far. I’m going to pass over the irony of eating coconut oil and a chocolate bar while watching The Biggest Loser šŸ˜€

WHILE WE’RE ON THE TOPIC, I am totally infuriated with the red team. I really hate it when anyone “plays the game” instead of just losing weight. As much as I love Alison Sweeney, I really miss the days when Caroline Rhea hosted and the contestants entered not knowing what they were doing but solely devoted to getting healthy. Meanwhile, teams like the grey team keep me thinking there are still those like that out there and have hope. I needed oatmeal to distract me from being angry.

Pumpkin Oatmeal With Maple Almond Butter And Maple Butter

If I’m working grass-fed butter into my diet, I should work more maple butter in too, right?(For those who don’t know, maple butter is simply granulated maple syrup and, in fact, not at all butter). I think I need to add less salt to my oats because even with all this mapleness nothing tasted sweet. I might have had to have an extra spoonful of maple butter from the jar. Oops.

This did not help my first night of sleep back in the dorm. I don’t know why, but I think it took a good 60 minutes of nothingness to fall asleep. My mind was just racing with thoughts about the new day and everything. The thing I was most anxious about was running again. To top it all off, I forgot to set my alarm! I managed to wake up naturally at 7:20, though, so only slept in 20 minutes. I guzzled down a cup of coffee from a fresh canister, and hit the gym.

365 Decaf Hazelnut

It’s so hard to find coffee that’s flavored and decaf; and this really tastes like hazelnut! Love it. What I didn’t love so much was reuniting with the treadmill.Ā The run was so tough. I knew it wouldn’t be as easy after 5 weeks but I couldn’t believe after 2 miles it was becoming a battle, even though I had The Today Show to entertain me. My goal was 7 miles and I pushed to that in 59:59; I don’t know how I’m going to build back up for my half in time. When I got back to my dorm, I was ready to refuel!

Bananamon Oatmeal With Cinnamon Raisin PB

Peanut Soy Yogurt With Milk Chocolate Newman's Cup

This hit the spot. I needed to go to the dining hall to get bananas and I grabbed 5 while I was in there šŸ˜€ I’ll be set for a bit I think. I love the cinnamon raisin peanut butter but I almost feel like it was too much raisins! Good thing I had soy yogurt with peanut flour to help satisfy my peanut tooth. The trick to good peanut flour yogurt: salt. It makes it that much more authentic.

Today’s the first day of classes! Already so much has happened I want to share and I’ve gotten a ton of good news, but I think after covering 1 big fat topic, that’ll be enough for this post. Instead, I’ll leave you with some giveaways.

Enter here for a goji gourmet giveaway(it’s one of my superfoods!)

Here is 1 iHerb giveaway and here is another! You could get a lot of herbage with that, lol.

And an Oikos giveaway!

Fun With Bullets

Posted on January 15, 2010. Filed under: Daily Update, Product Review, Recipe | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

Not these kind of bullets:

Or this kind of bullets:

  • But
  • These
  • Kind
  • Of
  • Bullets

Excuse me if I have a little too much fun this post. I’ll start off with this ridiculousness:

Montana At The Computer

That would be Montana, at the house computer. Should I tell him I’m taking my chair back when I go back to school or would that just break his heart? Anyway, it’s a really good thing I’m not on weight watchers, because I don’t wan’t to know how many points this would be:

Chocolate Avocado Pudding With vanilla Almond Butter

Chocolate AND vanilla AND almond–too perfect. I think I just wanted an excuse to eat a big spoonful of this almond butter. Since there’s been a couple questions about this recipe, I’ll clear them up all at once and I’ve also updated the page with tips and nutrition info.

  • Yes, what you see me make and eat is 3oz like the recipe calls. It bulks up to 5oz thanks to the liquid, and even afterwards is very airy and volumnous.
  • You can use basically whatever liquid you’d like. I prefer So Delicious coconut milk kefir but here I just used unsweetened vanilla almond breeze.
  • Vanilla powder is not a necessity, either. Vanilla is traditionally put in chocolate desserts but can be omitted.
  • You don’t need a food processor. In fact, I hardly ever make this with a food processor. Cleaning that out at 9:30 at night is just not my idea of a good evening. I just use an oversized bowl and a fork, and then scoop it into this bowl.

Now you all have no excuse not to make this šŸ˜€

As if The Biggest Loser and American Idol competing didn’t suck, now we’re back to NBC vs. Grey’s Anatomy. Why can’t all the shows just get along? And we have Tivo, but becuse of the cable box it can only record or watch 1 thing at a time. Boo. I went with ABC and Grey’s because NBC is less of a pain to watch online. Because of the crossover event, I got suckered into watching Private Practice, too. If there’s one thing that’s universal about Grey’s and Private Practice it’s that they have great music soundtracks. Remember when The Fray broke out onto the scene? All Grey’s. Afterwards I got a killer craving for some killer cornbread:

Killer Cornbread

BUT I’m one big ol’ creature of habit, and I like my oatmeal before bed. What’s a boy to do? Make a recipe, of course!

Cornbread Oatbran With Mighty Maple

  • 15g oatbran
  • 15g whole grain cornmeal
  • 1 egg white
  • 1/2 a cup of water
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon agave nectar

This was a-w-e-s-o-m-e. So great for a quick cornbread fix. At the same time, I realized it was missing something afterward: milk! If I made this again, I’d definitely swap out 1/2 or all the water for milk. Besides that, you must try this for a change from oatmeal.

This morning I lied in bed for 10 minutes awake not doing a damn thing–glorious. Then I got to work. For the 3rd day in a row, I did my core followed by 200 flights. I’ll repost the core today:

  • 40 push-ups
  • 70 side crunches, both sides
  • 100 crunches
  • 70 crunch pose-hold
  • 240 arm rotaries
  • 5 sets of 7 chair swings
  • 40 squats
  • 70 standing marches
  • 70 rower arms
  • 40 second rowerā€™s pose hold
  • 100 sit-ups
  • 70 tricep dips
  • 100 air bike kicks

Followed by 200 flights of stairs, during which time I listened to my recently added playlist twice. On it right now are these songs

  • Bad Romance by Lady Gaga
  • Party In The USA by Miley Cyrus
  • Cowboy Casanova by Carrie Underwood
  • Maybe by Ingrid Michaelson
  • Come Home by One Republic
  • Fireflies by Owl City
  • Hey Soul Sister by Train

For breakfast I whipped out and up a new product:

Jay Robb Vanilla Whey Protein

Jay Robb sent me some samples to try and review and this morning I decided to make HEAB’s protein ice cream. Eat this and look like that? Sure, I’ll do it!

Vanilla Protein Ice Cream

I cannot express how big that bowl is or how much this made. It’s insane. I couldn’t eat more than half of it and shared with my dad; it’s just thatĀ voluminous.Ā I don’t have time to make up a page for review right this moment, but I will say I liked this protein powder for several reasons and would pass it up for others and am giving it a 9/10. I LOVE that it uses stevia, which really makes it abotu the protein and not the sugar content. And it smells really vanilla-y. But the flavor is only so-so and there’s a strong whey aftertaste which I’ve never been a fan of in protein powders. Along side of this, I had my bowl of oatmeal.

Bananamon Oatmeal With NuttZo

Which looked completely ugly but tasted divine. Just bananas, cinnamon, and topped with NuttZo. No added sugar at all here and yet it was so sweet–perfect to start off the day. And now I’m wondering if I should grab something else before we leave for the doctors’ office, because really all that ice cream was mostly water and if I go pee while we’re waiting I’ll empty out the majority of my stomach, if that makes any sense whatsoever. And now I’m wishing I just went with greek yogurt like normal :-/ Boo. Oh well, maybe now I’ll start looking like Jay Robb? Here’s hoping.

Seasons And Seasonings

Posted on November 13, 2009. Filed under: Daily Update | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

Seasons: Fall

Yesterday morning was fairly autumnal in New England. To be honest, I’m a man of extremes, and I’d rather it be hot hot like Summer or start with the snow. Of course, I won’t feel that way when I have to walk to class in the snow. I was so happy when Greek got out at 12 because I had my entire day planned out in terms of “errands” to run. First I swung by the dining hall and then to my room, where I read some emailed and edited(read: spell-checked) my Epic Essay. At the same time I was making lunch.

November 12th 003

Broccoli With Red Peppers, Sweet Potato, 1 Egg Plus 1 Egg White With Raw Cheese

Seasonings: Red Pepper, Cheese, Salt

AĀ commenterĀ asked yesterday if I eat broccoli every day. Pretty much šŸ™‚ Except last Sunday(I checked). It’s undoubtedly one of my favorite vegetables, and the easiest to self prepare, so I think I’ll stick with it. Besides that, this lunch was pretty average. I felt like I hadn’t had a sweet potato in too long, and definitely needed it here. I was sure to stealthily scrub it in the bathroom first so the skin would be extra delicious. I really was ready to go right when I finished eating. But of course the one day I have a lot to do there’s an actual plot progression in Days Of Our Lives. What the hell was with that? I stayed to watch the whole episode, and headed out at 2. First was a swing by the mail room. No mail, but I did pick up coffee.

November 12th 007

Organic Decaf

Seasonings: Stevia

Definitely my favorite part of that building šŸ˜‰ Next up was getting my “staple” groceries. I piled on a mile walking down to Waterman Street Whole Foods where I got to see all this weeks sales; nothing particularly exciting, but I was ecstatic to see that Oikos is still on sale! They also had these adorable all-natural gingerbread men coated in chocolate IĀ almost bought but they were a bit out of my price range and a luxury. And look what I spotted near the checkout.

November 12th 008

Silk Nog And Pumpkin Spice Drinks

Seasons: Autumn, Winter

This is the first time besides Hannafords I’ve seen the Silk Nog, and the first time I’ve seen pumpkin spice besides the Eating Machine’s blog. I just love finding things I see on other blogs; I think learning about and trying new products is my favorite thing about theĀ blog world. After that, I hopped over to Eastside Market. Again,t he sales weren’t too impressive, so I stuck with the staples. I picked up a snack at Whole Foods to eat on my walk back.

November 12th 011

Cantaloupe

Seasons: Summer

I’ve been wantingĀ cantaloupeĀ for a while after seeing them on blogs. Just as good as they were during the Summer! This was also perfect because it was prepackaged at exactly .5lb which wrung up to exactly 2.00. I like it when things work out like that. I had to swing back by the mail room to pick up eggs(they sell a lot of decent groceries there). Then I snuck my food into the library to print out two of my essays including the Epic Poetry one. God, that felt good. There might have been some more coffee at that point. I aimed at getting everything done in 2 hours and I got back at 3:53. Score.

November 12th 014

Groceries

After that, I broke bended the rules. I knewI had a ton of work and needed to grab my dinner early so I could work the rest of the night knowing I didn’t have to go out for anything. Unfortunately, yesterday was also this big, special BBQ dinner at The Ratty where you couldn’t take things out. Well sneaky little me snuck in a food container and snagged some BBQ asparagus, extra sauce, and some peppers. I was a bit worried it would leak in my sweatshirt but that thing needs a wash anyway. When I got back I put that away for later and made a study snack.

November 12th 018

Pumpkin Oatmeal With Pepita Sun Butter And Maple Yogurt Frosting

Seasonings: Cinnamon, Vanilla, Allspice, Maple

This was divine. The frosting had Oikos with maple syrup, cinnamon, and vanilla stevia. Sicne the main flavor in the pepita sun butter are vanilla and allspice, it all just went together. I read what I was supposed to have done for Wednesday for the rest of the evening; I hate that feeling of being behind and catching up. I’m one of those annoying people who would rather be working ahead of the syllabus. At some point, I decided to put things away and make dinner.

November 12th 026

BBQ Tofu, BBQ Asparagus, Whole Foods Stuffing

Seasons: Summer, Autumn

Seasonings: BBQ Sauce, Salt, Thyme, Rosemary

BBQ is a cuisine I don’t eat much, and this reminded me why for the most part. I like for foods to just taste like their natural selves, and be enhanced by salt. BBQ, on the other hand, is all about sauce and the flavor from that. The tofu was nice and lightly seasoned(since I was the one who prepared it) but as for theĀ asparagusĀ I ate about 1/2 and threw the rest out after getting a big bite of mostly sugary sauce. If I was enjoying it like I might have been if it was an oriental sauce I would have kept eating it, but the flavor wasn’t working so I felt free to ditch it for these:

November 12th 001

Pepper Strips

Seasonings: None

These tasted much cleaner, and made up for the veggie fail. But lets talk about the stuffing. Whole Foods makes the best stuffing. I knew I had to get it when i saw it on the prepared food line. It’s not whole wheat or healthy or anything, it’s just good stuffing. Actually, it’s the best and the only one I’ll eat. I’m sure I’ll be inhaling unholy amounts on Thanksgiving. Survivor was excellent last night. Russell plays the game so well, even if he’s a little jerk. I made a quickie snack between that and Grey’s.

November 12th 005

Soy Yogurt With Trader Joe Mini Peanut Butter Cups And Vanilla Sugar

Seasonings: Vanilla Sugar

This was a new brand of soy yogurt to me. It tasted nice and soy-y like I was hoping for. Texturally and nutritionally I prefer So Delicious brand but this is a bit cheaper and more widely available. Grey’s was really good. Like really good. I like how this season is going. I think it’s becoming clear who the next to go after George will be. There was some late night oats involved after I did all the work that I should have done by Wednesday.

November 12th 008

Oatmeal With Smart Balance Peanut Butter And Baking Chips

Seasoning: Chocolate Chips, Salt

For Leno, I turned off my computer, put away the books, and made my favorite bowl of oatmeal. This is when I unwind every day and I wouldn’t want it any other way šŸ™‚ I think I prefer the agave sweetened Smart Balance to the molasses one; the flavor is the same but the agave stays thicker on oatmeal. As for cleaning the bowl, you all had wonderful suggestions of letting it sit overnight in water. However, I go with a simpler route. I just assume I’m going to be having oatmeal for breakfast and leave it be for the time. I hope that’s notĀ appalling, haha.

I think my roommate got home at around 6 this morning? And my alarm went off at 6:15. Great. After I fumbled around trying to make coffee, because it’s dark again, I also made a pre-workout snack.

November 12th 012

Chocolate Brownie Z-Bar With Smart Balance Peanut Butter

Seasonings: Salt

The Smart Balance and chocolate is a flavor combo I just can’t quit. I probably should have prepared this earlier, because I ended up eating it on the treadmill and made a bit of a mess. Oops. Hopefully no one allergic will be using that treadmill today, plus I washed off what peanut butter touched the machine. I ran a slowish 10 miles in 85:34. I think I ended up walking around too much yesterday doing errands–2 official Pile On The Mile miles but probably a good 3+–and tuckered out my legs. instead of fight it, however, I let the pace be what it was and went with it.

November 12th 016

Pumpkin Oatmeal With Protein Honey Maple Peanut Butter And A Vegan Pumpkin Molasses Cookie, Pineapple Chobani

Seasons: Autumn

Seasonings: Cinnamon, Salt, Ginger

Delicious. The high protein honey maple peanut butter actually reminds me almost exactly of butter toffee from Naturally Nutty. I was thinking of making my own yogurt with plain Oikos, full fat Voskos, and banana pineapple rum jam, but prepackaged is so much simpler šŸ™‚

And now I leave you with the emails I wake up to: “The vet changed Montana’s medicine to a people one. I had to go to CVS pharmacy to get it. The lady asks “Does Montana have any questions for the pharmacist”?.Ā  I said hes a dog. hee hee.”

I Act Like A Blogger When…

Posted on November 6, 2009. Filed under: Daily Update | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

I act like a blogger when I read other blogs rather than study for my test in 30 minutes. Fortunately, I peeled myself away from the screen to make it to class in time. The test was a bit longer than any of us thought it’d be but I feel like exactly the passages I studied were the ones on the test and that I did really well. I guess the Greek shirt just has good luck in it?

Broccoli, Carrots, Tofu Salad With The Heat Is On Peanut Butter

Broccoli, Carrots, Tofu Salad With The Heat Is On Peanut Butter

I act like a blogger when I get obsessed with a food. Now it is tofu salad with The Heat Is On peanut butter. Every time there’s carrot at the salad bar, I’ve convinced myself I’m doing the right thing by eating this. That, and it’s just too good to turn down. I used a little less tofu this time(because I ran out) and the peanut butter flavor was even better. Definitely needed some stevia and salt though to pumpkin it up.

Cinnamon-Raisin Greek Yogurt

Cinnamon-Raisin Greek Yogurt

I act like a blogger when I’m convinced Greek yogurt can be a “dessert”. All it needs is some vanilla, raisins, cinnamon, and voila. I was trying to recreate this amazing rum raisin gelato made by a Massachusetts company which is so light and smooth but I don’t have rum. I probably could find that in aĀ dormitoryĀ pretty easy but I didn’t feel like “meeting the neighbors” with the line “Excuse me, do you have rum for my Chobani?”.

I act like a blogger when I spend 30 minutes making a granola for the Facebook Ā MojaMix contest I won. I went with a ginger base with dried strawberries, persimmons, chia seeds, chocolate sprouted sunflower seeds, and cacao nibs. How awesome does that sound? I can’t wait till it comes!

I act like a blogger when I ditch on the end of Days Of Our Lives and all of Rachael Ray to go get groceries.

I act like a blogger when I almost neglect an awkward “Hi” with a classmate because I’m fascinated by how the raisins soaked up the yogurt liquid and were now cinnamon infused. Seriously, that was awesome. I didn’t even plan it like that but viola. The raisins got so moist and well seasoned, it totally converted me to liking raisins again.

November 5th 010

Vermont Sweet Vermont Bread Co.

I act like a blogger when I get really excited about bread. I found a new flavor of Vermont Bread that has maple syrup as the 3rd ingredient! Don’t tell me that doesn’t sound awesome. Unfortunately, it wasn’t on sale and I didn’t have a coupon, so back on the shelf it went šŸ˜¦ I’m justĀ ecstaticĀ to know this exists.

November 5th 011

Groceries

I act like a blogger when I come home with pumpkin, tofu, and greek yogurt. I’m guessing 90% of you have these items in your fridge at the moment. I got it all for 4.38 using store sales and coupons! I’m getting good at that šŸ˜‰

November 5th 014

Oikos With Chocolate Chunk Hazelnut Biscotti Granola

I act like a blogger when I position my greek yogurt and granola in a precarious position to take a picture of it, then proceed to drop it all in my lap. Fortunately, most of it stayed in the dish so I ate it anyway. I love this granola because it already has chocolate in it! Sure, it could benefit from a little more, but what couldn’t?

Pumpkin Oatmeal With White Chocolate Wonderful And Vanilla Powder

Pumpkin Oatmeal With White Chocolate Wonderful And Vanilla Powder

I act like a blogger whenever I use my $10 vanilla powder. It finally occurredĀ to me to put this on oatmeal after 2 months. Oh my heavens was the vanilla on top of the pumpkin delicious. I’m sure the white chocolate peanut butter didn’t hurt, but the powder pushed it over the edge.

November 5th 018

Tiny Apple

I act like a blogger when I get excited by tiny fruit because it makes me feel bigger.

Vegan BBQ navy Beans, Brussel Sprouts, Summer Squash

Vegan BBQ navy Beans, Brussel Sprouts, Summer Squash

I act like a blogger when I whip out my camera in the middle of the dining hall to take a picture of dinner. That’s a fun way to meet people. I thought of you all when the main vegetarian dish was pumpkin ravioli in cream sauce šŸ™‚ I, however, was still a little pumpkined out, and the cream sauce made it a little less appealing. Instead I had the vegan BBQ navy beans. These taste just like good baked beans should taste like and were amazing. They had a very deep molasses and tomato flavor to them. All I could think about eating them was how smelly my run would be this morning but how I didn’t care.

Root Beer Zevia

Root Beer Zevia

I act like a blogger whenever I drink Zevia. Does anybody know a non-blogger who’s even heard of this? I don’t think I have, which is a shame because it’s so darn good. Ā There’s even aĀ Zevia giveaway from Green Dog Wine! Don’t actually enter it though, because that would lessen my chances and I need to restock šŸ˜‰

Newman's Own Organic Mocha Milk Chocolate

Newman's Own Organic Mocha Milk Chocolate

I act like a blogger when I choose organic chocolate because I know it’s better for the earth. Or maybe I ate this because it’s one of my favorite chocolates ever? Yeah, definitely the second one.

I act like a blogger when, instead of getting up to get my notebook out of my backpack to do work, I figure out how to see how many google reader subscribers I have.

November 5th 007

Banana Goodness Oatmeal

I act like a blogger when a good night is evaluated on the basis of the oatmeal. Last night I decided to try and recreate banana goodness bread in my microwave since I haven’t made a loaf in a few weeks. I used 2oz banana, vanilla powder, and vanilla stevia in the oatmeal, and topped with semi-sweet baking chips. It was a decent substitute but of course not the real thing. I also sprinkled salt over the top at the end and I think that really helped the flavor.

I act like a blogger when I stress over watching Grey’s Anatomy or The Office. Oh wait, I was doing that years ago. Nevermind.

Fig And Almond Blondie, English Muffin With Banana And Chocolate And Cinnamon Vanilla Sunflower Butter

Fig And Almond Blondie, English Muffin With Banana And Chocolate And Cinnamon Vanilla Sunflower Butter

I act like a blogger when carbo loading couldn’t be easier. I defrosted one of Veggie Girl’s Fig And Almond blondies. After a few month of being frozen, they aren’t quite as good, but a little cream cheese fixed that. I also had an english muffin with mushed banana and chocolate chips(and salt, of course) and cinnamon vanilla sunflower butter. Perfect. Rachael Ray was on The Jay Leno Show and gave some hilarious answers to 10 at 10 in case anyone missed that.

I act like a blogger when I set my alarm at 6:15 to get up and do my long run. I had planned for another 13.1 miler today. I wasn’t particularly hungry but I figured food would be good so I grabbed a mojo.

Clif Peanut Butter Pretzel Mojo

Apparently, this bar isn’t just one of my favorites but a favorite of a lot of you guys, too! I just loved the saltiness. And the combo of pb chips and peanuts gave me good immediate and long lasting energy. I actually constantly forgot to be eating this, so it lasted me 13 miles. Speaking of which, I set a new PR record of 1:46:28! That’s the fastest I’ve ran a half marathon by a good 3 minutes

I act like a blogger when I choose running over course registration. As in, course registration opened at 8, and by the time I got back to my dorm it was 8:40. I didn’t think things would go so fast but 1 of the courses I really wanted to get into filled up fast and I got pretty upset with myself for letting me miss it. I’m hoping I can still wiggle my way into that class yet, but I’ll talk about that more once I know more.

Banana Oatmeal With Banana Peanut Butter And White Chocolate Chips, Vanilla Chobani

I act like a blogger when I feel compelled to perfect an oatmeal recipe the next chance I get. This time I used 3oz banana and a lot more salt. I think it came out a tad bit better.

I act like a blogger when I decide a theme like “I act like a blogger” would be cutesy for a post and then by the end I want to go back and delete every time I wrote those annoying damn words! Haha. Don’t forget it’s Cookie Friday! I need to get my thinking cap going. And I’m going to work very hard to fix that class situation I mentioned, because I am a bit disappointed and I’m sure I can get in if I pull some strings. Anyway, have a good day!
